Of all the foodie establishments in Little Tokyo, Yamazaki Grocery and Ramen House has always been my favorite place to eat...

...and it's all because of THIS. <3 <3 <3
Yamazaki Grocery and Ramen House is located at the outskirts of Little Tokyo --
2277 Bet. Pasong Tamo and Amorsolo St. Makati City
Yes, I know that this establishment is named 'Ramen House' and not 'Gyoza House', and that perhaps it is the ramen that put Yamazaki on the map, and not the gyoza. Still, in this compound called Little Tokyo, where Japanese food is flourishing and EVERYthing is a Ramen House or a place for Yakiniku, it is in Yamazaki where I have tasted the BEST.Gyoza.Ever.
I've noticed that most of the food that was served here in Yamazaki would always tend to have a distinct *POW* in the palette; a pleasant aftertaste if you may. With their gyoza, the aftertaste comes off as herb-y, similar to the Kuchay Pies I used to have back in my Zobel days. Their version of the Yazai Itame also tastes great, with that distinct taste of sesame oil that lingers in your mouth even well after you swallow.
Left: Shoyu-based soupRight: Chahan (i.e. Japanese fried rice)
Left: Yasai Itame (i.e. Japanese stir-fried vegetable) - P195 set meal with Chahan, soup and gyozaRight: Hamburg Curry Rice - P185
Granted that the food tastes yummy, I still find it to be a tad too salty for my taste -- especially the soup. I'm not sure either, if the price is sulit enough for me to patronize the place frequently. Still, the fact remains that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the gyoza, and that's enough for me to keep coming back to this foodie place.
